MUSC 3101 - Audio Arts Production II 3 s.h.


This class builds on the fundamentals covered in MUSC 2100 , with an emphasis on sound synthesis techniques, design, and production. The history of electronic musical instruments and MIDI, MIDI implementation, performing with MIDI, MIDI sequencing, beat-making, and data-mapping will also be explored in depth. Sound and music for film, electronically-based composition, performance, performance practices, and data-driven instruments will be highlighted and discussed as well. The course will make use of DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) including Ableton Live. Includes the use of the recording lab. A-E Only. Offered Fall and Spring.
Prerequisite(s): SoS; MUSC or MUSI major; MUSC 2100 , and MUSC 1239  or MUSC 1650 , or permission of instructor.
