MUSC 3101 - Audio Arts Production II 3 s.h.

This class builds on the fundamentals covered in MUSC 2100, with an emphasis on sound synthesis techniques, design, and production. The history of electronic musical instruments and MIDI, MIDI implementation, performing with MIDI, MIDI sequencing, beat-making, and data-mapping will also be explored in depth. Sound and music for film, electronically-based composition, performance, performance practices, and data-driven instruments will be highlighted and discussed as well. The course will make use of DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) including Ableton Live. Includes the use of the recording lab. A-E Only. Offered Fall and Spring.
Prerequisite(s): SoS; MUSC or MUSI major; MUSC 2100 , and MUSC 1239 or MUSC 1650 , or permission of instructor.
