PROF 221 - Becoming a Master Tutor I 1 s.h.


This discussion and practice course is designed to prepare students to tutor their peers effectively. Topics of study are the tutor’s role, tutorial ethics, issues of student diversity, interpersonal communication strategies, understanding learning disabilities, and an array of strategies for supporting student development of academic skills such as time management, reading, note-taking, and preparing for tests. This course is for tutors employed by or seeking employment by the Center for Academic Development and Enrichment. Students should enroll in as many Becoming a Master Tutor mini courses in a semester as possible (but only one at a time) to complete the series (PROF 221, PROF 222 , PROF 223 ) within one or two semesters.
