PSYC 4730 - Developmental Psychopathology 3 s.h. This course serves as an in-depth study in the field of child and adolescent psychological disorders using the developmental psychopathology perspective. Developmental psychopathology proposes that psychopathology occurs when development itself has gone awry. As such, the developmental psychopathology framework examines the emergence of child and adolescent cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disorders over time, with special focus on the risk and protective factors that influence developmental processes and trajectories, and examines psychopathology in the context of typical child development. We will cover several levels of analysis, including genetics and epigenetics, biology, psychological processes, interpersonal relations, and social-cultural contexts to understand development, manifestation, maintenance, and treatment of childhood and adolescent disorders. A-E Only. Offered Fall and Spring. Prerequisite(s): “C” or better in all: PSYC 1000 , PSYC 2420 or PSYC 2450 , PSYC 3001 , and PSYC 3720 .
