HDFS 1250 - Cultural Competency in Service Provision: DSP2 1 s.h.

This course explores culturally sensitive practice in human services and counseling. It is a required experience for students taking the DSP level 2 micro-credential. Topics include cultural variations in values and communication patterns, microaggressions, sociohistorical privilege and oppression, as well as multicultural helping with specific groups. One aspect of this course includes writing professional testimonials for the four Core Competency areas in the National Association of Direct Support Professional (NADSP) certification Level 2. A-E Only. Offered every semester.
Prerequisite(s): HDFS 1200 ; only open to DSP2 micro-credential students.
