CRJ 3002 - Criminal Law 3 s.h. Criminal law deals with crimes and offenses committed against society. It focuses on the prosecution and punishment of individuals who have violated laws established by the government. The primary purpose of criminal law is to maintain public order, deter criminal behavior, and protect society. It involves offenses such as murder, theft, assault, fraud, and drug trafficking. Criminal law defines the elements of a crime, sets out the penalties, and establishes the procedures for the investigation, arrest, trial, and punishment of offenders. A-E Only. Offered annually. Prerequisite(s): 6 s.h. SOC or CRJ.
