MUSC 3782 - Private Music Lessons: EDI (Electronic and Digital Instruments) 1 s.h. - 2 s.h. Private Music Lessons: EDI (Electronic and Digital Instruments) offers students an in-depth opportunity to privately study instruments, devices, music, composition, ideas, concepts, and history related to electronic and digital instruments, Audio Arts, and music technology. Topics covered will vary greatly depending on each particular student’s area of interest, but some examples are: electroacoustic composition, synthesis, sound design, instrument design, mixing, mastering, digital signal processing, computer programming, interactive software design, recording technology, history of electroacoustic music, history of synthesis, history of electronic instruments, etc. In general, this course is an advanced individual study of vocal or instrumental repertoire, identified through examination of the Learning Outcomes cited for group music lessons. Particular emphasis will be placed on historical and cultural style and artistic interpretation of music, based on mature musicianship and knowledge of appropriate performance practice. Student responsibility will be dependent on credit. A juried (either in recital or privately with a faculty panel) will be required of studio students. A-E Only. May be repeated for credit. Offered Fall and Spring. LA Prerequisite(s): permission of instructor.
