FINC 4332 - Financial Data Analytics 3 s.h.


This course introduces students to fundamentals of data science that are applicable to financial management. It presents students with the basic concepts, methods, and technologies of data analytics with hands-on practice on financial and accounting datasets. The skills that students will learn include, but are not limited to, data extraction from popular financial data sources (e.g., Bloomberg and Yahoo Finance!), data processing, descriptive analytics, data modeling, data visualization, and basic data mining/machine learning using Excel, Stata, and Python. Students will apply these analytical skills in a variety of financial areas, such as financial statement analysis, corporate financial strategy, asset pricing, portfolio management, and financial research. A-E Only. Offered annually.
Prerequisite(s): JrS and a major in PACC, BSAD, BSEC, or ECON.
Prerequisite(s) or Corequisite(s): FINC 3233  with a grade of “C” or better.
