MGMT 3355 - Leadership and Management 3 s.h.


This course is a systematic examination of leadership with a view toward understanding what constitutes effective leadership. The experiential approach to leadership is applied in this course to help students transfer knowledge from theory to practice. By taking this class, students will know how to do the typical functions one must perform as a manager/leader such as selecting employees, delegation, motivation, and help employees learn problem-solving. The evolution of leadership thought is also traced in order to understand contemporary approaches to leadership. Topics include trait, skill and behavioral approaches to leadership, leader-member exchange, and contemporary approaches to leadership. Cultural dimensions and their effects on leadership are also emphasized. A-E Only. Offered Spring only.
Prerequisite(s): MGMT 2241  and MGMT 3343 .
