POLS 2340 - Gun Politics and Policy 3 s.h.


Examines contemporary political conflicts over gun regulation in the United States and the framing of the “gun debate” that pits gun control against gun rights. Explores the historical and cultural roots of firearm use and regulations from early America to the present day. Examines social scientific approaches to evaluating the impacts of guns and gun regulations on crime, safety, and health. Considers the “wicked problem” of gun violence as a policy problem and potential solutions. A-E Only. Offered at least every 2 years.
