ECON 3235 - Insurance 3 s.h. The course emphasizes the historical and economic approach. Consequently, the historical development of managing the economic impact of risk and thus future uncertainty is developed. Risk evaluation and various methods of coping with risk is studies, which includes insurance but extends beyond the narrow scope of insurance. Topics include the historical evolution of insurance; the economic impact of cost of capital with or without insurance; the insurance industry; law and insurance, public regulation of insurance; social aspects of insurance such as, social security and worker’s compensation; consumers and insurance; plus particular areas of insurance, including property, casualty, liability, life, and annuities, among others. Pass/Fail Option. Offered irregularly. Prerequisite(s): ECON 1110 or (ECON 1111 and ECON 1112 ).
