WGS 4300 - Trans Lives & Constructs of Conformity 3 s.h.


This course explores the medical, historical, sexological, and social ongoing constructions of gender variances, gender identities, and sexed bodies. Central foci of the course include: critiquing binaries, normativity, the boundaries of female/male/intersex and feminine/masculine/androgyny/gender non-conforming. Course readings draw from different fields in the social sciences and humanities, culminating in the ability for critical reflection of hierarchical values given to bodies, narratives, histories and identities. A-E Only. Offered every 3-4 semesters.
