WGS 2300 - Trans and Women of Color Feminisms in the U.S. 3 s.h.

The course is an interdisciplinary examination of trans and women of color feminisms through the study of personal essays, theories, literature, poetry, film, visual art, music, history, and other genres. Using identity, power, resistance, and liberation as theoretical frameworks, we critically interrogate the diverse and interconnected struggles within trans and women of color feminisms related to issues like gender, race, sexuality, identity, community, immigration, capitalism, embodiment, representation, and abolition. The course emphasizes critical approaches to identity, healing, movement building, and transformation in individual, collective, and structural terms. A-E Only. Offered every other year.
