WGS 2220 - Women of Resistance 3 s.h. This course studies women in history, literature, popular culture, and real life who fought against exploitation, subjugation and repression. Readings and discussions focus on literary characters from fairy tales to the Bible, Greek plays, contemporary fiction, arguments and philosophies found in feminist writings, and autobiographical writings such as diaries and memoirs. We will address topics such as contemporary struggles for reproductive, civil, and political rights, as well as ongoing challenges regarding beauty, sexuality, and power. A-E Only. LA Prerequisite(s): SoS.
