PSYC 3722 - Psychology of Family Violence 3 s.h.

This course will cover the etiology, assessment, and treatment models of various types of family violence, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), dating violence, physical, emotional, and sexual child abuse, and elder abuse will be explored, as well as current empirical research concerning the most effective treatment of perpetrators of family violence: What really works? Lectures, study and discussions will focus on risk factors, PTSD, intergenerational violence transmission and cognitive behavioral treatment for both victims and perpetrators of family violence. Pass/Fail Option. Offered Fall and Spring.
