EDUC 641A - Literacy Coaching for Teaching Inquiry 1 s.h.


Emphasis will be on acquiring practical skills from a literacy professional currently teaching in the K-12 public school system to support candidates’ preparation for teaching collaborative inquiries for children’s literacy growth and learning. Candidates will come to understand how to facilitate and monitor children’s progression of inquiries, how to incorporate the knowledge of literacy and its teaching routines into inquiry, and how to develop knowledge building inquiry talk and children’s agency that result in productive knowledge building. In addition, candidates will coach each other for the purpose of developing high levels of children’s agency, knowledge building talk, and collaboration. Submission of two tutoring videos from EDUC 641  with reflection will occur.  A-E Only. Offered Spring only.
Prerequisite(s): EDUC 636 .
