This Faculty Handbook has been prepared by the Provost’s Office in cooperation with College-wide divisions, offices, and individuals and presents information on those policies, procedures, and other matters that faculty often need as a reference on a day-to-day basis. Because shared governance review of policies is an ongoing process that often occurs after publication of such documents, please be sure to check that any specific policy, procedure or form is, in fact, the one you need at a given moment. Your department chair and/or dean can assist.
Navigation Tips
Like any program, the management system (Acalog) used in the creation and maintenance of the Faculty Handbook has its quirks–which vary depending upon your choice of OS and browser. We have found that Chrome and Firefox work best, and have experienced only minimal issues even with Explorer. In general, minimizing windows or tabs rather than closing them will help you avoid inadvertently closing the entire Handbook. Too, floating your cursor over the browser icon itself will (usually) reveal which tabs and external windows you have opened as you navigate. The hypertext links that give some users the most problems are those in the Resource Links (the list of links at the bottom/left side of the Handbook sections), which begin with the College Organizational Chart: opening those links does not take you out of the Handbook, but closing the site by clicking the “x” atop/right side your browser window might. Minimize rather than close, and you will see the Handbook in the background.
