Admission Requirements
All students applying for admission to degree status are required to:
1. Official transcripts of all college work showing an earned B.A. or B.S. degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
2. Submit an essay addressing the following:
- Why are you applying to the program?
- What is one thing you would like to change about the criminal justice system?
- How do you plan to use the degree after graduation?
- Do you have any unique qualifications or circumstances you would like brought to our attention?
3. Optional: Up to three letters of recommendation.
SUNY Oneonta students applying to begin the program while enrolled as undergraduates must have the following at the time coursework begins:
1. A cumulative 3.0 GPA.
2. 90 completed s.h.

Methods and Analysis: 9 s.h.
Community and Criminal Justice: 15 s.h.
Non-Course Requirement:
Program Exit Exam. |
