Study Within the Major Field: 54 s.h.
Courses in Related Areas: 35 s.h.
Note:
Dietetics Major retention policy: Students will be reviewed and may be dismissed from the dietetics major if they receive two initial grades below a B- in courses required in the major or related work. They may also be dismissed from the major at the end of their sophomore year (second semester for transfer students) and successive semesters if they do not have an overall 3.0 GPA. The Dietetics Program is a Didactic Program which prepares students to meet the educational requirements of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics Education (ACEND). Upon student request, SUNY Oneonta issues ACEND verification statements to all students who graduate with a B.S. in Dietetics. Students will be charged a fee if verification is requested two months or more beyond graduation. To become a registered dietitian, graduates will need to complete a graduate degree, an ACEND accredited supervised practice experience, and pass a registration examination from the Commission on Dietetics Registration. Supervised practice experiences are nationally competitive and completing an undergraduate degree does not guarantee that a student will receive a placement. Students should obtain current policies from the program director. ACEND can be contacted at 1-800-877-1600 ext. 5400 or by writing at 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2190, Chicago IL 60606-6995. |
