  1. Submit a completed Graduate degree application and Program Application packet (application process and checklist posted on the M.S.–N+D Program website) with a non-refundable $125 fee. In addition to the Graduate degree application, the Program Application packet includes the following forms which must be submitted by the applicant directly to the program director:

    4. Memorandum of Understanding for Primary Preceptor (1 copy)
    5. Memorandum of Understanding for Secondary Preceptor (1 copy)
    6. Memorandum of Understanding for Additional Preceptors (1 copy for each additional preceptor)

    12. Copy of current Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Membership card
    13. Technology Requirements
    14. Green card for non-citizen residents
    15. Printed payment receipt for Graduate Admissions Application

Admission is competitive, and meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee acceptance. Preference for admission will be given to applicants who are committed to becoming Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and who have:

  • Developed the ability and willingness to assume considerable responsibility for their own learning
  • Demonstrated the ability to solve problems and work and communicate effectively with others
  • Demonstrated a commitment to community service and/or service-learning
  • A strong academic record that provides ample evidence of the applicant’s ability to complete both supervised practice and graduate work successfully. A GPA of 3.0 or better is required for acceptance into the program.

Information regarding submission procedures is posted on the program website.

Please refer to the program web page for current admissions requirements. Occasionally changes must be made mid-year, in which case, updates are reflected only on our website.

Program Requirements

  1. The M.S.–N+D Program includes a mandatory virtual orientation prior to the start of the program. Orientation is anticipated to take place the last week in May. The virtual orientation will provide students an opportunity to orient to the online environment and any additional technology that will be utilized in the instruction of online courses.
  2. Students must maintain a minimum of a “B” in each course to continue in the program.
  3. Students must satisfactorily complete all supervised experiential learning hours and required ACEND FEM(FG) competencies each semester.

All College policies and procedures found in this Graduate Catalog will apply to students enrolled in the online M.S.-Nutrition and Dietetics Program.

The M.S.–Nutrition and Dietetics Program is now offering Registered Dietitians/Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RD/RDN) an affordable high-quality “seamless approach” to becoming a masters-prepared RD/RDN. This “seamless approach” builds on the success of SUNY Oneonta’s current program and seeks to advance the profession by providing highly qualified masters-prepared Registered Dietitians/Registered Dietitian Nutritionists ready to meet market demands.

This M.S.–Nutrition and Dietetics Program for RDs/RDNs would award 12 credit hours of prior learning for completion of an ACEND accredited dietetic internship and successfully passing CDR’s Registration Examination for Dietitians. The 12 credit hours of prior learning awarded would equate to and replace the supervised experiential learning component currently imbedded in the following four graduate courses: NUTR 5250 NUTR 5650 FOOD 5800 , and NUTR 5850 . RD/RDN applicants would then be able to complete the online M.S.–Nutrition and Dietetics program in one year or part-time (2-6 years).
