EDUC 3035 - Literacy Methods I 3 s.h. A focus on literacy acquisition and development, literacy theories, and developmentally appropriate practices involving literacy assessment and instruction, with an emphasis on the relationship between reading and writing. Indirect and direct models of the teaching of reading and writing, along with SoR, are examined, with emphases on emergent and developing literacy skills, strategies, diversity, and social and emotional learning. Topics include the creation of a literate environment and inclusion of family and community partnerships. A field component is included. A-E Only. Offered Fall and Spring. Prerequisite(s): JrS, education major, completion of EDUC 1060 , EDUC 2001 , EPSY 2075 and EPSY 2040 .
