CRJ 5870 - Police and Community 3 s.h.

Police and Community incorporates analysis of intersecting social locations (race, class, gender, age, sexuality, religion), and how these bring to bear on police and surveillance. We will analyze evolution of policing and surveillance to include global perspective and current events. We will consider policing and surveillance as broad concepts to problematize police (as an institution) and policing (as a process), and how ideas of what constitutes policing shape criminality and surveillance. A-E only. Offered annually.
Prerequisite(s): CRJ 5000 or taken concurrently.
