BIOL 6408 - Aquatic Plant Ecology 4 s.h.

This course is a review of the extensive literature on herbivory of freshwater vascular macrophytes with a particular emphasis on aquatic insect herbivores. Students will analyze recent field studies of invasive aquatic plants detailing plant-herbivore interactions. The development of individual research projects, to run concurrently, will explore relationships between exotic plants and several herbivores that may have the potential to control plant growth. The offering will meet one or two full days per week for the duration of the summer (May-August) at the convenience of the students and faculty. A-E only.
