HISW 3100 - The Global Cold War 3 s.h. This course examines how the Cold War unfolded across Africa and Asia from the 1940s through the 1980s. While the American media focused on the threat of nuclear war and the superpower struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union, the Cold War permeated politics and culture in many different ways across the globe. Students will focus on five themes that shaped global politics—modernization, sovereignty, conflict, culture, and justice—through a series of case studies. Pass/Fail Option. Offered irregularly. LA WHGA GL Prerequisite(s): COMP 1000 and 3 s.h. of 1000-level history course.
