BIOL 1900 - Biology in the News 3 s.h.

This course will introduce you to how we “do” biology and how we communicate biological topics. We’ll focus on current news topics, looking at the biological content, the scientific process, and identifying sources of bias in both the science and the reporting. You will learn to evaluate articles and spot warning signs that what you’re reading might not be telling you the whole story. We’ll also talk about the social-justice impacts of current biological research. No prior background in biology is expected. This course does not fulfill any requirements for the Biology major. A-E only. Offered every semester.
