SPMT 3080 - Gender in Sport 3 s.h.

This course will examine the history, roles, and current status of different gender identities in sport and seek to understand the forces that surround access and participation. The relationship between gender and sport will be analyzed from various perspectives, including economic, cultural, political, social, legal, and educational influences. Topics may include structural constraints, the intersectional nature of gender and race and ethnicity, power, religion, sexuality, gender identity, the role of the media, and the impact of Title IX.
