MUSE 6925 - Citizen Science 3 s.h.

Science Centers, Science Museums and Planetariums are increasingly involved in facilitating and creating citizen science projects as part of their mission of bringing together science and society. With the help of digital platforms, citizen science has evolved into a major source of data for research that could not be pursued by other means. To a certain extent, citizen science also puts control of research in the hands of the public, as participation is completely voluntary and depends on the willingness of citizens to contribute to specific projects. In this course students will design, implement and analyze the data from a citizen science project in a field of their choice, with the possibility to collaborate with external organizations and platforms. A-E Only. Offered every fall semester.
Prerequisite(s): Permission of the instructor and the director is required for students not enrolled in CGP.
