MUSE 6150 - Designing for Accessibility 3 s.h.


This course explores the history and theory of design as it relates to issues of accessibility. Topics include the history of assistive devices, the rise of universal design, Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, and new trends in the field. Emphasis will be on the physical environment as it relates to mobility, activity, and visual and auditory experience, and off-campus trips are required. Students leave the course with an enhanced understanding of how to better serve people of a variety of abilities both within and outside the confines of the museum. A-E Only. Offered every Fall semester.
Prerequisite(s): Permission of the instructor and the director is required for students not enrolled in CGP.
