CNED 5105 - Counseling Theories 3 s.h.

Major approaches to counseling and psychotherapy are surveyed. Each approach is examined according to its conceptualization of human nature and personality development, the theory of symptomatic behavior, and the process and techniques of counseling. A comparative framework will be emphasized to help students evaluate the strengths and limitations of each model of counseling. Students will be expected to develop their emerging professional orientation and to describe their own attitudes and beliefs about counseling theory and practice. A-E Only.
Prerequisite(s): SCNS Degree student status or permission of department chair.
