WGS 4100 - Queer Theory 3 s.h.

This course offers an overview of some of the core debates and texts within queer theory from an interdisciplinary perspective with a focus on questions of gender, sexuality, race, nation, power, subjectivity, performativity, and resistance. We will trace the intellectual and activist lineages and current applications of queer theory within feminist theory, critical race studies, and postcolonial theory. Central to our analysis will be a focus on radical queer politics and the possibilities that queer theory opens for re-thinking identity, rights, resistance, and normalization. A-E Only. Offered every two years.
