ANTH 3305 - Evolutionary Medicine 3 s.h.

Morning sickness, back pain, heart disease, and depression are all common health problems, but have you ever wondered why humans experience these and other conditions? In this course we will seek to understand how human health can be shaped by a mismatch between our modern environments and the conditions in which human evolution took place. We will use evolutionary theory to reframe questions about disease and ill health, keeping in mind the long sweep of evolutionary history. A-E Only. Offered every two years.
