LITR 3045 - Native American Literatures 3 s.h.


Study of selected Native American literatures written in English from the 18th century to the present. The course will emphasize the historical and cultural contexts of Native literary history, as well as ongoing concerns with questions of education, identity, language, land, and tribal sovereignty. The course addresses the major debates within the field of Native literary studies while also considering this literature’s complicated relationship to canonical U.S. literature and American popular culture. A-E Only. Offered every 2-3 years.
