HISE 4409 - The Middle Ages and the Movies 3 s.h.

This course examines the ways medieval historical themes have been presented in cinema over the last century. It will explore the medieval reality through lectures and a wide variety of primary sources including chronicles, literature, legal documents and memoirs. We will examine not only the historicity of the film compared to the historical time period addressed, but also look at the period in which the film was made as a product of its own period and historical concerns.
