BIOL 620 - Advanced Field Botany 3 s.h.


This course is designed to further develop skills in botanical field techniques, and provide a more thorough understanding of the vegetation of North America, and the flora and vegetation of New York. Additionally the course will provide an understanding of principles and rules for proper botanical nomenclature. It combines information drawn from the disciplines of taxonomy, ecology, ethnobotany, physical geography, and wildlife ecology. Two weekend field trips required. Two hours of lecture and two hours lab per week. Lab format will include individual and small group projects, including a plant collection and research presentation. A-E Only.
Prerequisite(s): GrS and permission of instructor.
