GEOL 242 - Mineralogy 4 s.h.

The study of minerals, their physical and chemical properties, classification, origin, and geologic occurrence; basic principles of optical mineralogy, crystallography and crystal chemistry. Processes of formation on minerals and their assemblages in specific tectonic settings are emphasized. Mineral identification in hand specimen and in thin section is utilized in laboratory.
